Stewards usually work at concerts, sport games, festivals, movie premiers etc.

The demand for staff  varies from season to season and year to year. For example an international event as the Olympics in 2012 created a lot of work opportunities in the security industry for stewarding. In 2015 England will host the Rugby World Cup and chances that the need for security professionals will increase for the duration of the tournament are high.
It is a good option for part time work and requires little or no previous security experience and training. NVQ 2 Spectators Safety is valuable certificate and will give an edge to your application.

Some event organizers would get stewarding staff on volunteer basis for exchange of future free admission


Roles vary from:

  • ticket checks
  • bags and body searching
  • patrolling the venue
  • ejecting spectators


You will be reporting to supervisor, chief steward and safety officer.

 

Pay Rate

Average £10 ph. It starts from £6.5 to £15 and more for experienced and trained staff such as safety officer.

Requirements

Good communication skills(especially for response operatives)
